Director/Senior Director, Leveraged Credit Portfolio Management

Summary :

Seeking a detail orientated professional with strong communication skills to support portfolio management activities within the commercial lender finance business. The position will work with clients and internal & external business partners to ensure that the collateral pledged under credit agreements meets the standards set forth by the related legal agreement and is appropriately valued for the risk and characteristics of the collateral transaction. In addition, responsibilities will focus on portfolio performance monitoring, general compliance and ongoing risk assessment.

Position will manage the collateral inclusion process for the leveraged credit business which includes the evaluation and approval of underlying loans and the related assigned value determinations, both at inception and on an ongoing basis. The role will be instrumental in managing and reporting portfolio trends and characteristics and maintaining appropriate levels of risk. Position will work with the origination and underwriting team in the approval, structuring and negotiation of borrowing terms and credit documents. The position is expected to work closely with the leadership team in establishing and maintaining policies and procedures for the FIG business. The Director, Portfolio Management is responsible for the ongoing identification and resolution of deviations within the context of the documented loan structure.

Responsibilities :

  • Evaluate proposed transactions for borrowing base inclusion.

  • Collaborate with Underwriting and Borrower prior to loan closing, as it relates to review, approval and onboarding of initial collateral pools.

  • Develop, manage and/or refine tools necessary to track borrower and portfolio performance, monitoring trends and industry performance

  • Develop and manage portfolio information needed to accommodate sound risk management, economic and regulatory reporting requirements.

  • Identify and establish best practices policies and procedures.

  • Work with PM team and others on monthly/periodic portfolio reviews

  • Work with PM team on sector/industry reviews

  • Collaborate with originations team members prior to loan closing, facilitating the transition from “prospect” to “client”

  • Respond to Borrower requests for funding, amendments and new business

  • Monitor and enforce terms of loan agreement / documents

  • Manage other Portfolio Management tasks, including working with new business team on up-front and ongoing client due diligence, UCCs, etc.

  • Deliver high customer service

  • Special projects as assigned

Basic Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bachelors Degree in finance or accounting

  • MBA and/or CPA

  • 10 to 15 years commercial lending experience including rediscount and leveraged loan structures.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing) with clients, peers and fellow associates

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications

  • Proficient with ABS methodology and modeling

  • Familiarity with commercial loan systems
