U.S. Bank Market Data Analyst in Chicago, Illinois

GENERAL SUMMARY :

Implement a vision and strategy as directed by senior management to centralize market and reference data contracts, products and services to optimize spend and distribution of market/reference data.

Work across the organization to learn how market/reference data is used and understand our procurement process. Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, cost and effectiveness of vended data. Improve control for data acquisition, and maintenance, provide oversight, perform day to day responsibilities to manage data spend, and build strategic relationships to innovate our usage and spend of this information.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist in the establishment and administration of a central market data governance model working with the business lines and corporate support functions to manage market data.

  2. Consult/advise with the business lines on how market data can help support their business and identify opportunities for increased savings and delivery.

  3. Implement a strategy through process and oversight for market data acquisition, and distribution with the assigned business groups. Annually assess the vision and strategy, for completeness and adjustments

  4. Support efforts in the development and rollout of a policy or guidance to enable smooth adoption of the centralized processes. Assist in the development of an inventory of all market data contracts, and licenses. Analyze the data for identification of cost optimization.

  5. Assist in the development of a tool suite and organization model to implement robust capabilities for market data management.

  6. Be opportunistic; identify areas where establishment of a central organization would be more cost effective, drive a higher quality deliverable to achieve the goals of the enterprise.

  7. Develop strategic partnerships with the market data providers, optimizing our servicing and delivery model. Drive down costs, while improving data delivery.

  8. Assist in the development of processes, procedures and controls to ensure a sustainable delivery of the service to the business lines. All processes, procedures and controls must comply with corporate policies and requirements.

  9. Ensure plans are developed and tracked that show progress around delivery. All issues are to be escalated quickly for timely resolution.

  10. Assist in the development of an oversight model that provides transparency into progress, challenges, and systemic themes. Develop measurements around spend, quality and savings to demonstrate progress towards objectives.

  11. Be an active participant in the industry, influencing our change to support improved data consumption.

  12. Be an avid communicator, presenting insights to stakeholders throughout the company. Facilitate buy in and decision making through the organization.

  13. Ensure compliance with the market data contracts and usage.

  14. Actively ensures compliance with the U.S. Bank Code of Ethics and all Anti-Money Laundering, Bank Secrecy Act, information security and suspicious activity reporting requirements, policies and procedures. Actively participates in any required corporate and business line training in these areas. Follows account opening procedures and understands and follows internal suspicious activity referral requirements and processes, as required for this position. Actively works with customers to understand each customer's normal account activity, as appropriate for this position.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in fields such as business, information technology or data sciences

  2. 5 plus years of experience in market data management

  3. Broad financial services background or experience with a heavily regulated industry

  4. Comfortable in working up, across and down a large complex organization

  5. Strong communicator, ability to prepare and communicate relevant messages to a mix of audiences

  6. Strong organization skills

  7. Proven ability to execute and deliver results

  8. Strong experience in leading a market data program
