The Institute is committed to strategic initiatives in which Information Systems will play a pivotal role both in providing systems support and in being an integral part of future services offered to the Institute’s patients and clients.
Provides technical and administrative support for RIC’s Server, Storage, Messaging, Database, and Virtualization infrastructure. Develop and support RIC’s Windows Server, Redhat Linux, Exchange, MS SQL Server, VMWare ESX Server, EMC Clariion SAN, EMC Legato, and EMC Celerra technologies. This includes installation and maintenance of server operating systems, database management systems, messaging applications, web servers, network and server management systems, storage and virtualization systems.
Consistently demonstrates support of the RIC statement of Mission and Philosophy by striving for excellence, contributing to the team efforts and showing respect and compassion for patients and their families, fellow employees, and all others with whom there is contact at or in the interest of the institute.
Provide direct network support for RIC’s server, database, messaging and storage systems. This includes the server and storage hardware (servers, disk arrays, cabling, etc.), operating system installation and configuration, and application installation and support.
Design and implement systems solutions to support RIC business activities.
Support business critical financial and reporting applications based on Microsoft Dynamics GP, Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Reporting Services, and IIS.
Serves as project manager for infrastructure-related projects while utilizing standard project management tools.
Support and develop Windows network operating system environment and provide tier-2 and tier-3 support for daily administrative tasks including user accounts, directory services/domain environments, printing environment, and network security. Take immediate action to ensure adequate system performance and security.
Provide escalation support of RIC’s EMC Legato, EMC Replication Manager, and VMWare VCB backup systems.
Assist in the development, implementation, and testing of disaster avoidance and recovery policies and procedures.
Document all system hardware and OS components (inventories, configuration, etc.) software (licenses, configurations, etc.) and cabling configuration in narrative and graphic form.
Develop and support RIC’s network management platforms based on IBM’s NetCool and Microsoft’s SMS products.
Ensure continuity of network service to all users. Provide diagnostic and corrective services for all network systems 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Document systems changes using ITIL best practices.
Perform routine server and security-related maintenance activities, and document completion.
Ability to transport and move PCs, printers, and related hardware weighing up to 30 pounds.
Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of RIC.
Act as mentor to Network Security Analysts and Help Desk Specialists.
Evaluate new products and make recommendations for their use at RIC.
Keep current with advances in server, storage, virtualization, management, and security technologies.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Requires knowledge of computer technology and information management concepts typically acquired through completion of a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other closely related field; Masters preferred.
Requires expert-level administrative experience with Windows Server, Windows SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange, EMC VMWare, and EMC Clariion / Celerra systems.
Advanced-level administrative experience with IBM’s NetCool, Enterprise Anti-Virus and Anti-SPAM products, SQL reporting, SQL Reporting Services, IIS, and Microsoft SMS highly preferred.
Requires solid understanding of the following network protocols and technologies: HTTP, SMTP , SNMP, DHCP, VLANs.
Requires proficiency in the analysis of network and application performance through the use of protocol analyzers, syslogs, NT/2K event logs, and SNMP traps.
Requires at least 7 years professional experience in a corporate IT environment developing and supporting a medium to large network.
Technical certifications from Microsoft at the MCSE levels or higher, are highly preferred.
Requires interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with user departments concerning network/PC support, training and issues as well as a variety of external contacts.
Requires analytical skills necessary to analyze business problems and apply computer technology to resolve same and/or increase operational efficiency of PCs in a networking environment.
Practices good customer service while working under pressure.
Works independently of close supervision on highly technical and complex subject matter.
Exposure to video display terminal.
