Ranked among the finest cancer programs in the country, the Section is comprised of nationally and internationally known faculty with expertise in all major types of malignancies, blood disorders, and experimental therapies.
Unit Job Summary
The Staff Scientist plans, executes, facilitates and promotes advanced technical/scientific research projects. Recognizes the need for innovation and develops or incorporates advances in research concepts, methodologies and approaches. Designs, develops and tests new equipment, instruments, reagents, and/or experimental protocols for research (including hardware, software, statistical methods, etc.). Collaborates with other researchers as appropriate. Participates in the preparation and writing of grant applications and reports, and (co-)authors scientific research manuscripts . May supervise other research staff. May present work at scientific meetings, and provide peer review of grant applications and scientific manuscripts.
Doctoral degree required.
Completion of postdoctoral training program (normally 3-5 years) required.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge in relevant scientific field required. Knowledge of research techniques or methods required. Knowledge of regulatory policies and procedures required. Analytical skills required. Problem-solving skills required. Attention to detail required. Organizational skills required. Verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to work independently and as part of a team required. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet/database, communications, and graphics software required.
Supervisory skills preferred.
