AMETEK, Inc. Lab Technician in West Chicago, Illinois

Position Description

Lab Technician will be responsible for building prototypes and troubleshooting electronic assemblies for our Engineering Lab in West Chicago, IL.

Responsibilities:

  • Build prototype electronic circuits from raw board level and/or bread board level based on generic specs, electrical schematics, and component lists. This includes analyzing the schematics, gathering the components, placing and soldering both through hole and SMT components onto the boards, wire-wrapping components.

  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and set up testing for prototype electronic circuits, which would include setting up using electronic tools and measuring equipment such as oscilloscopes, DVMs, Power Supplies, Frequency Counters, and various calibrators.

  • Interact with NCC Engineers to provide feedback on the circuit performance and functionality. Implement changes as needed.

Additional responsibilities might include: * Troubleshooting electronics controls (production fall out and customer returns) * Building simple test fixtures * Assisting production with testing products * Create test procedure for lab bench product testing.

Position Requirements

Relevant A.A. or B.S. degree in Electronics Technology / Electrical Engineering fields and / or equivalent experience

At least 5 years in a similar role

Able to build prototype electronic circuits in the engineering lab environment

Able to read and follow electrical and mechanical schematics.

Advanced electronic/electrical troubleshooting and repair skills.

Advanced hand soldering skills (through hole and high pin count SMT)

Self starter who can work with minimal supervision.
