Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
Rush University Medical Center presents an exciting opportunity and competitive compensation for a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.
The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner provides high quality, comprehensive care and promotes collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care. The individual who holds this position exemplifies the Rush mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
The schedule for this position is rotating and is handled through self-scheduling within guidelines. The schedule includes 10 hour day shifts, 16 hour overnight shifts from 4pm – 8am, and 24-hour shifts (24 hour shifts are not required).
Perform patient history and physical examinations.
Diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic health problems.
Prescribe medication, including controlled substances as delegated in collaborative practice agreement.
Utilize research and evidence-based practice to guide decision making to ensure the highest quality patient care.
Demonstrate advanced critical thinking in the care and management of patients.
Provide education and support to nursing staff, students, house staff, and other members of the healthcare team.
Consult other health care team members in collaboration with physician to meet patient needs, while ensuring continuity of care.
Provide education to patients, families, and community groups.
Demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills that establish and maintain professional relationships with coworkers and other members of the healthcare team.
Work to establish a relationship with the patient characterized by mutual respect, empathy, and collaboration.
Serve as a consultant and mentor to healthcare team members in solving patient or care delivery system problems
Position Qualifications Include :
Current State of Illinois RN and APN licensure required.
Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited program required.
Current certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner from a national certifying body required.
Current BLS and NRP certifications required.
Prior experience as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner preferred.
