Federal Reserve Bank Associate Information Security in Chicago, Illinois

  • Job Summary * Assists in the development and implementation of security policies and procedures. Assists with a broad range of information security disciplines such as account management, password auditing, network based and web application based vulnerability scanning, virus management, security configuration management, patch management and intrusion detection. Responsible for reviewing, monitoring and tracking security configurations, patch management, vulnerability assessments, and ensuring that processes meet industry standards and compliance requirements. Represents the security needs of the organization by providing expertise and assistance in all IT projects regarding security issues. The level of work required is considered moderately complex and staff must be able to work under general supervision. This job does not have any direct reports.

  • Principal Duties and Responsibilities *

    • May assist in the development and implementation of security policies and procedures

    • Provides direct support to the business and IT staff as it relates to access control functions of issuing user identification and assigning appropriate rights to that user identifier

    • Enforces security policies and procedures by monitoring security profiles, reviewing security violation reports and investigating security exceptions

    • Updates, maintains and documents security controls

    • May be asked to coordinate security projects and tasks as assigned

    • Troubleshoots user related problems

    • Participates in System work groups as needed

    • Participates in the evaluation of security products and/or processes to enhance productivity and effectiveness for various platform initiatives

    • Educates IT and the business about security policies and consults on security issues regarding user built/managed systems

  • Education and Experience *

    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field or equivalent work experience

    • 0 to 3 years of information security experience

  • Knowledge and Skills *

    • Knowledge of UNIX, Windows OS family, TCP/IP and networking technologies required

    • CISSP certification is preferred

    • Able to work independently or on multiple IT security projects as a project team member or project leader

    • Able to work on small to large complex security issues or projects that require increased skill in multiple IT functional areas

    • Possesses and applies both specific and broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in the field of specialization to the completion of assignments
