The primary responsibilities for the Revenue Cycle Applications Analyst include leading all aspects of application support, providing end user training and documentation, specification design for new reports or processes, and maintenance of all patient accounting tools. Under the direction of the Executive Director of the Revenue Cycle, the Analyst works in collaboration with Information Systems on future implementation efforts and upgrades to the existing code, as well as any work related to other organizational initiatives that involve the revenue cycle tools. The Analyst works with the Revenue Cycle management team in defining/implementing new rules and regulations, researching new functionality, and enhancing existing functionality.

Principal Responsibilities

+ Support and enhance current patient accounting environment and other revenue cycle application and tools.

+ Assist management in the operational tasks for application support that impact the patient accounting system, or any interfaces (Medical Records, Patient Statements, Collection Agencies, Contract Management, Bill Scrubber, 835 processing).

+ Provide training and education on current patient accounting and other new applications and tools implemented within the Revenue Cycle.

+ Serves as an integral part of the Revenue Cycle team in identifying CQI initiatives and process improvement.

+ Responsible for producing quality results for the revenue cycle and other departmental end users, by ensuring that system implementations/enhancements reflect user requirements and process.

+ Responsible for communication of project status to appropriate leadership (either direct report or project based), and providing weekly status reports on activity.

+ Maintain a comprehensive listing of all custom scripts, rules, reports, and design decisions. These items should be clearly indexed and available on the shared drive.

+ Responsible for producing quality results relative to design, build, testing, reporting, training, and implementation for all process and technology changes to Revenue Cycle application systems.

+ Assist in creating test scripts and validating system functionality routinely with upgrades and during downtimes to ensure a high degree of database integrity.

+ Responsible for ensuring the appropriate documents are created and approved when initiating change to any Revenue Cycle system.

+ Responsible for managing incidents related to Revenue Cycle tools and applications.

+ Responsible for representing the Revenue Cycle applications in technical, operational, and project meetings assigned.

+ Accountable for continually implementing and demonstrating patient safety in all assigned duties. Demonstrates active participation in processes that support the CARF and JCAHO National Patient Safety Goals.

+ Other duties, projects, and/or activities as assigned by the Executive Director of Revenue Cycle.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

+ Bachelor's in Healthcare related or computer science field, or comparative experience.

+ Minimum of two years experience with hospital Revenue Cycle applications.

+ Experience working within Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office tools.

+ Analytical skills necessary to analyze business problems and apply technology to resolve issues and/or increase operational efficiency of the Revenue Cycle process.

+ Ability to pay close attention to details when designing, implementing, documenting, and maintaining system functions.

+ Experience with Microsoft SQL server for report writing and data analysis.

+ Knowledge of SQL.

+ Promote teamwork to achieve Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago's mission.

+ Demonstrates awareness for fiscal expense management.

+ Personal computer skills necessary to prepare flowcharts, presentations, design specifications, test plans, project plans, etc.

+ Knowledge of rehabilitation healthcare business processes in one or more area.
