ITS Technologies & Logistics Buyer - Purchasing Agent in Darien, Illinois

We’re currently seeking a Buyer – Purchasing Agent for our corporate location in Darien, IL.

The Buyer – Purchasing Agentinitiates and executes all domestic and offshore purchases for assigned categories, per existing supply strategies. Our Buyer – Purchasing Agents manage assigned supply base to ensure product conformance to specifications, adherence to confirmed order quantities and shipping schedules, at the lowest total cost to ITSCG. Buyer – Purchasing Agents recommend changes to existing supply strategies, and interfaces with Account Services, Accounts Payable, and Terminal associates as needed or required.


Buyer – Purchasing Agent

  • Secures quotations from approved supply base

  • Analyzes quotations against current/historic costs & required delivery requirements

  • Provides recommendations for any variances to current/historic costs

  • Communicates & manages performance expectations & requirements to assigned supply base

  • Manages supplier capacities/lead times

  • Determines MOQs/EOQs to manage costs & improve response delivery response

  • Provides planned order data to suppliers to drive capacity planning and on-time delivery requirements

  • Identifies and makes recommendations for areas of cost reduction & facilitates cost reduction projects

  • Establishes, measures, and reviews KPI’s for key suppliers, facilitating continuous improvement

  • Initiates, supports, and/or assists with the identification and qualification of new sources of supply.

  • Maintains Netsuite system data integrity related to purchase order data & item data

  • Provides timely disposition on invoice discrepancies and non-conforming material, where applicable

  • Monitors and recommends safety stock levels on a regular basis, as needed or required

  • Examines Requisitions and/or Order Reports to ensure items are purchased in a timely manner

  • Engages System Data Maintenance to correct invalid item, supplier, or purchase data

  • Special projects as assigned



  • Bachelor’s Degree is required

  • Minimum 4 years Buyer – Purchasing experience (domestic or offshore direct-purchasing)

  • Expertise in sourcing & supply chain management of raw materials, product components, and/or finished goods

  • Applicable direct purchasing experience in the areas of Capital Expense, Heavy Equipment, aftermarket parts, MRO, and/or Shop Supplies preferred

  • Knowledge of global market conditions and the impact to the specific cost drivers

  • Strong knowledge of Demand Management and Replenishment principles and tools (Kanban, etc.)

  • Robust PM skills to facilitate and complete Project objectives on schedule, achieving required results

  • Proven negotiation skills, strives for best results; cost, quality & customer shipping requirements

  • Knowledge of Operations/Business System software and the ability to analyze data

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to coordinate and communicate activities between internal departments as well as with external suppliers

  • Works independently – leads projects as appropriate or required

  • Solid organizational, planning, and decision-making skills

  • Domestic travel as needed or required
