Burns & McDonnell Assistant Hydrogeologist in Downers Grove, Illinois
The Assistant Hydrogeologist will support multi-disciplinary teams in solving water resources investigations and water management problems for major water, municipal wastewater, and industrial wastewater treatment projects. This position will assist with technical design support on well, well field and well construction projects in a variety of locations.
Assist in work plans for water resources investigations for water, municipal wastewater, and industrial wastewater treatment projects.
Assist in groundwater flow, well and well field analysis and design.
Assist with flow and transport groundwater modeling and 3D hydrogeological visualization for water management projects.
Assist in hydrogeologic testing activities.
Assist in analyzing aquifer performance test data and hydraulic and water quality data using industry standard processes and procedures.
Assist with technical reports, technical specifications, and permit applications.
Compile technical data to be presented to leadership and client reports.
Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
All other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or a related field from an accredited program required.
Prior internship or experience related to hydrogeology preferred.
Basic knowledge of the regulatory agencies that govern groundwater resources.
Basic knowledge of geologic concepts including stratigraphy, geologic structure, groundwater occurrence and flow, and geochemisty.
Basic knowledge of methods used for collection and analysis of environmental and hydrogeologic data.
Basic knowledge of hydrologic and hydrogeologic assessment methods including aquifer testing.
Basic knowledge of field investigation techniques, including soil and groundwater sampling.
Basic knowledge of spreadsheet models and MODFLOW groundwater modeling package.
Strong technical skills, statistical knowledge and attention to detail.
Ability to clearly communicate both verbal and written technical information.
Must be proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Valid driver's license required. In addition, must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
