MKD Electric Trainer / Instructor in Elgin, Illinois



Currently seeking an experienced Trainer/Instructor. As a technical trainer you will train Industrial Electricians and technicians at all levels, including apprentices, in technical theory, safety, FA/CPR, to advanced level electrical. Presentations will occur in classroom, laboratory and job site environments. Candidate must be able to conduct training in a structured, formal and systematic manner. You will need to continuously update skills and industry knowledge to support training. This position requires strong communication skills with knowledge of electrical and mechanical skill sets and familiarity with analytical concepts.


Instructing participants using an appropriate mix of media and methods including, but not limited to-

+ + Classroom presentations

  • Skill practice activities

  • Electrical Understanding

  • Electrical safety

  • Maintaining training records, electronic and hard copy.

  • Industrial Electrician subject matter

  • Delivering instructions in various settings, such as, classrooms, conference rooms, job trailers, job site work areas, etc. Flexibility to deliver in evenings as necessary.

  • Capability of successful instructional delivery to a wide variety of trainees. GED recipients to advanced degree holders-potentially in the same training event


  • Industrial Electrical subject matter expert.

  • 3-5 years experience instructing in the electrical trades including classroom and laboratory settings.

  • 5-7 years experience in the Industrial Electrical field with experience working with conventional Controls Systems and Programmable Logic Controls systems.

  • Knowledgeable in OSHA, safe work practices, PPE, Confined Space, LOTO, NFP70E, hot work, fall protection, lifts, and trenching regulations and compliance.

  • CPR/First Aid certified. Other certifications: ASP, OSHA 10 or 30 hour, etc. are highly desirable.

  • Strong understanding of electrical theory and principles of electronics.

  • Strong Safety background.

  • Strong communication/presentation skills with the ability present in a professional and engaging manner.

  • Strong communications skills both written and verbal

  • Technologically savvy. Ability to set-up and use a laptop and/or projectors to deliver instruction.

  • Must have excellent MS Word, Excel and Power Point skills.

  • Instructor Certification by a recognized organization
